Sam Ness
"In short, Sam Ness's music is a mix of Alternative Acoustic artists like Ben Howard, Passenger and Jack Johnson, and energetic fun artists like Mumford and Sons, One Republic, and classics like Otis Redding and Ben E. King. He uses special effects including a loop system and a vocal harmonizer to make a sound much larger than any other Singer/Songwriter in the Madison Area."

"Sam Ness is taking the Madison music scene by storm. His rugged charm coupled with immense talent have made him a stellar act to watch"
-On Wisconsin Radio

“Born in small town Wisconsin, he’s got more in common with, say, Justin Vernon than Eric Benét, but no less soulful. His sharp intelligence to letting the song tell the story, and the musicians to breathe and go, never limits his imagination to anything short of brilliance. His voice and lyrics rides comfortably and raises the roof for the last chorus.”
-Eric Alper (In regards to title track from “Whispered on the Wind” album)

North Code [Feat. Sam Ness]
The year was 2007—lead-man Josh Pankratz had recently left his band, Oxford High, to trade in pop punk success for an education at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Also at UW, members Adam Prinsen (drums/percussion) and Craig Hoffmann (keys/mandolin/harmonica) began playing music together in the dorms. The three would not meet and create music as The North Code until nearly a decade later. After moving to different parts of the country after graduation, they ended up back in Madison and started developing their indie folk sound. They brought in fellow Madisonian Ben Strohbeen (bass guitar) to finalize the line-up.

The North Code has been compared to the likes of The Lumineers, The Head and the Heart, and Gregory Alan Isakov. After self-recording six original songs and tapping the talents of Mike Zirkel (formerly of Smart Studios) and Justin Perkins (Mystery Room Mastering) for mixing/mastering, The North Code released its debut EP in May of 2018. With performances at Brat Fest and Between the Waves already this summer, and upcoming shows at Art Fair on the Square and Maxwell Street Days, The North Code is ready to bring their original music to the masses.

Water Street Jacks
Water Street Jacks is an Americana group out of Sauk Prairie, WI. Educators by day, our group grew out of entertaining our students at school assemblies and running an open mic for local musicians at the Woodshed Ale House in Sauk City.
We started covering acts like The Avett Brothers, The Lumineers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dawes, Mumford and Sons, and The Head and the Heart as well as some classic folk songs and hits from guys like Dylan and Prine. Along the way, we've collaborated on about a dozen original tunes and hope to record them sometime soon.
We pride ourselves on four-part harmonies, devilish good looks, and the only Mando-Strat this side of Nashville.
